Now that you have chosen a beautiful piece of jewelry, your next decision should be how to protect it.


If you already have insurance, you will need to ask your insurance agent a few questions:
*- Does your policy cover loss, theft, damage, and mysterious disappearances?
*- Does your policy cover retail replacement value at the time of cost?
*- Following a loss, does the insurance company pay the insured amount, or replace the lost item with a ** new one?

If you do not have an insurance policy and need to obtain one, use this checklist to shop around.

- Will they insure jewelry?
- Does the company require a home owners or renters insurance policy through their company in order to insure jewelry?
- If yes, under what conditions will they insure jewelry?
- What is the cost of the insurance, per year, per $100 of value? Does the price very according to where you live?
- Does the policy cover loss, theft, damage, and mysterious disappearances?
- Does the policy cover retail replacement value at the time of loss?
- Following a loss, does the insurance company pay the insured amount, or replace the lost item with a new one?
- If the company decides to replace the item, do you have a choice in which jeweler they work with?
