Pearl and Bead Restringing

With time and normal wear, the chords of pearl and bead necklaces become brittle and stretched out, thus becoming susceptible to breakage. Most pearl and bead strands should be restrung every year or two depending on how often you wear them.

Our experts will be able to prolong the life of your pearls by restringing and inspecting the clasps. Our professional stringer uses only silk to restring your pearls. Silk is more flexible, ensuring that your pearls will rest attractively on your neck.

Personalized engraving

Gifts and personal treasure can grow to become even more special by engraving a meaningful message, name, date or symbol on a piece of fine jewelry or cherished timepiece.

We offer custom engraving and reproductions of corporate logos and hand signatures.

Our expert engravers and state-of-the-art engraving systems enables us to precision engrave your precious jewelry, timepieces, glass ware, silver ware and much more.

Time Piece Repair

Just like fine jewelry your precision timepieces also require very specific care and maintenance. They are delicate instruments that must be maintained to continue to perform properly and accurately to ensure you get the most from them. At Diamond Boutique, our master watchmaker has over 30 years of watch making and servicing experience. We are here to serve you whether you need a new battery or a complete overhaul. Diamond Boutique’s master watchmaker can repair many fine Swiss watch brands as well as Japanese movements. We will provide an estimate free of charge for all necessary repairs.

Mechanical/Automatic Watch Repair (non-battery driven)Manufacturers recommend that you have a complete overhaul on a mechanical watch every 3-5 years. Manual winding or self winding/automatic watches need special handling. It is best to wear a mechanical watch everyday or try to wind it every three days.

Periodic check ups for your Mechanical Watch

Mechanical watches are designed to provide a lifetime of accurate and reliable service. For maximum efficiency and to prevent damage, a mechanical watch needs to be serviced every three or five years depending on the manufacturer’s recommendation. We will inspect your watch for any worn parts that may need replacement, check whether it needs lubrication, and whether perspiration or water, dust, etc., needs to be removed from within the watch.

Mechanical Watch Service/Overhaul

All watches need service, especially mechanical watches. Many steps have to be performed to service a watch. First, the watch is opened and the movement is removed. It is taken apart, down to the very last screw. Then the parts are checked for wear and tear. The old parts are replaced when necessary. Then all the parts are cleaned in an ultrasonic, reassembled and lubricated. After those steps, then the movement is regulated, so the watch will run accordingly. If the watch is water resistant, the water tightness is checked.

Why go through all the hassle of servicing your watch if it is working fine?

There are some good reasons. First, the oil that keeps the watch running will break down over time. Un-lubricated watch parts can create friction. The problem gets worse if the friction create microscopic fine dust that will act as an abrasive to the movement. Another reason, the case of the watch is expanding in response to the hot and cold. This allows dust to enter the case through the microscopic fine cracks. This happens even in water resistant watches that have protective gaskets.

A simple mechanical watch contains roughly 130 components. More complex watches contain hundreds of parts. The Calibre 89 made by Patek Philippe contains 1728 parts and is probably the most complex watch ever produced.

The main parts of a simple mechanical watch include:

  • the mainspring, which provides the power
  • the balance wheel and hairspring, which oscillate, thereby marking the division of time
  • the escapement, which distributes the impulses from the oscillator
  • the gear train, which transmits the power
  • the winding stem (in manually wound watches) or the oscillating weight (in self-winding watches)
  • the dial train, which activates the hands

Your watch is a precision measuring instrument. Treat it carefully, and it will serve you well. Avoid undue shocks (such as dropping on hard surfaces). Never wear mechanical watches while playing golf or tennis because arm speeds exceeding 70 mph can damage the movement of the watch. Also, check your watch to see if it is labeled “Water Resistant”, if not, avoid all contact with water.

Our Mechanical Watch Overhaul service includes:

  • Free estimate of all necessary and recommended repairs and part replacements.
  • Complete disassembly of case and movement.
  • Ultrasonic cleaning of case and movement.
  • Complete lubrication of movement to ensure the critical parts of the movement will last to their full expected life.
  • The watch movement is then regulated in 5 positions to ensure proper time keeping capability.
  • All gaskets are replaced as well as any damaged minor movement parts.
  • A waterproof/pressure proof test is done to ensure the water tightness of the case meets or exceeds factory specs.
  • Reassembly of case and movement and one final inspection to be sure your watch functions properly.

A fine watch will last for generations. In order to preserve its appearance and optimal performance, expert periodic maintenance is required. Every product that contains a mechanism requires full service after a certain amount of time.

Quartz Watch Repair

Quartz watches need special handling. Even though batteries power them, not all of the internal components are electronic. Even in a mechanical/automatic movement, some of the internal components are powered by battery instead of the by the rotor or manual winding. Every manufacturer has their own way of taking care of their products, but these FAQ’s apply to every quartz watch.

Periodic check ups on Quartz watches are designed to provide an accurate and reliable service. It is recommended that you replace the battery every two years although the battery can last longer. The Diamond Boutique will inspect your watch for any worn parts that may need replacement, check whether it needs lubrication, and whether perspiration or water, dust, etc., needs to be removed from within the watch.

What it means when your Quartz watch needs to be serviced?

All watches need service at some point in time. Many steps have to be performed to service a watch. First, the watch is opened and the movement is removed. It is taken apart, down to the very last screw. Then the parts are checked for wear and tear. The old parts are replaced when necessary. Then all the parts are cleaned, reassemble and lubricated. After these steps, the movement is regulated, so the watch will run accordingly. If the watch is water resistant, the water tightness is checked.

Special Care for your Quartz Watch

Your watch is a precision measuring instrument. Treat it carefully, and it will serve you well. Avoid undue shocks (such as dropping on hard surfaces). The normal shocks caused by sports like tennis or golf present no threat to quartz watches.

Avoid putting your watch near medical equipment, headphones, speakers, or refrigerator door magnets. Electric mixers and blenders and a wide range of other electrical equipment may also have strong enough magnetism to affect timekeeping.

Rolex Watch Repair

Is your Rolex watch running slow, fast, or not at all?

Our Complete Overhaul will remedy the problem.

Why should I have my Rolex serviced?

Rolex recommends having your watch serviced (or overhauled) every 3 to 5 years. A Rolex watch consists of over 200 parts working together, within tolerances measured in microns (thousandths of a millimeter). The day-to-day movement of these parts causes friction — whether it is the metal-to-metal or even metal to jewel (ruby) contact — and requires proper lubrication to avoid failure.

Over time, the oils and greases used for this lubrication can break down, or dry up. This can result in coagulation (or hardening), which can affect the accuracy of your watch, and even cause subsequent damage to the movement’s tiny parts.

Furthermore, dried-out seals and gaskets can become hard and cracked, and thus result in a loss of the watch’s water resistance. If this happens, and water enters the watch and starts to rust, the movement could become unserviceable and result in a complete loss. At this point the watch has will require a complete movement replacement. A typical bill to replace a Rolex movement is approximately $1,200 to $1,800 depending on the model.

Therefore, in the event that water has entered your watch, or even if you just notice moisture or fog under the crystal, it is very important that you have the watch serviced right away. Do not unscrew the winding crown and try to “dry out” the watch. By allowing oxygen to enter a water-damaged watch you are simply jump-starting the oxidation process and accelerating the rust damage. Instead, you should seal the watch in a zip-lock plastic bag and bring the watch for service right away.

“If it isn’t broke, Don’t fix it”

Unfortunately, most people are under the misconception “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.” This can be a very costly mistake, as some people wear their watches for years without having them regularly serviced. Apparently, they feel that just because it is a high-quality watch, for some reason it doesn’t need to be serviced.

Would you drive your car for 5 to 10 years without having it serviced, or even having the oil changed? Of course you wouldn’t, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a Chevy or a BMW. The fact is mechanical devices (regardless of price) require regular servicing in order to stay in working order. If you don’t have this service done it will likely result in a very costly service bill down the road — pay now or pay (more) later.

Our Rolex Overhaul service includes:

  • Free estimate of all necessary and recommended repairs and part replacements.
  • Complete disassembly of case and movement.
  • Ultrasonic cleaning of case and movement.
  • Complete lubrication of movement to ensure the critical parts of the movement will last to their full expected life. The watch movement is then regulated in 5 positions to ensure proper time keeping capability.
  • A complete refinishing of the case and bracelet (only metal bands are refinished, leather or plastic bracelets/straps cannot be refinished)
  • All gaskets are replaced as well as any damaged minor movement parts.
  • A waterproof/pressure proof test is done to ensure the water tightness of the case meets or exceeds factory specs.
  • Reassembly of case and movement and one final inspection to be sure your watch functions properly.

The following parts are also replaced, if necessary,

  • Case Tube
  • Crowns
  • Bezel Inserts (Submariner or GMT-Master)
  • Sapphire Crystal
  • Hands

Please allow 6-8 weeks for Rolex Overhaul Service.
